Description
EDIT: It's showing up now! I had just verified a few hours ago that it wasn't showing up under tags or search before writing the post (1st April 2026). It's barely been an hour since I posted here. I honestly think its due to this sub, although I can't prove it. Any way, thank you y'all! So, the first game in my series doesn't show up in search or tags. But the second one that's got just a 2 at the end of instead of 1? It shows up! Itch's response? That's a lazy response showing they never actually even looked at the titles of both of my games: "Femdom Isekai #1" & "Femdom Isekai #2". So, I'm just supposed to accept that people will never be able to find my the first game in the series, just the second one? Also, never acknowledged the game missing from the tags when there's less than 300 titles for "femdom" tag. This is not rocket science, it's a plain SQL query. You can't even claim the text search excuse here. It's a bug or mismanagement on their part. I've missed out on visibility and players for my game cause my game never showed under the "New" tab for that tag. And I'm just supposed to accept this? This wasn't my first attempt to reach them about this, I've emailed them multiple times. Whole Story After 2 years of learning and work, I released my first small fully 3d NSFW game in my femdom game series for free in November 2025. Other than having it on my site. One of the first things I did was release it on Itch. Even before applying for Patreon I did this, my goal wasn't monetization, just wanted some exposure. I have a soft spot for Itch tbh. I spent over day fixing my HTML build to fit Itch's requirements. Generating different builds, etc. Spent time making custom banners, images, styling the Itch page trying to give the user the best first impression. Read the rules for indexing, etc. When it wasn't indexed after a week, I emailed them as suggested in FAQs. A week later emailed them again. Then a week after that, I got the email that my game had been indexed! Result? Barely any traffic to my itch page. Mainly from my devlog I posted and google searches. The game wasn't shown on the NSFW new releases page either, or under the tags I had selected for my game (mainly the femdom tag). I tried searching for my exact game title, my game was not there. I thought I'd just wait. A month later when when my second small game in the series was ready, I emailed them again trying to get this resolved before I wasted any more time uploading another game. Support ticket raised. No response. A month later, I replied to the ticket via email trying to bump it. No response. I sort of just gave up at this point. I was getting an ok response promoting my game on reddit occasionally, thought that was my only avenue. When my third small game was ready, I waited a long time before one day I was bored and just randomly uploaded the second game to Itch. Didn't spend any effort the page, no custom images, nothing. Suprise, this time they decided to index it properly! I received a few thousands plays/downloads with in a few days, it was getting traffic from all the right pages. Even gained patrons. Both games had nearly the exact same name: * Femdom Isekai #1: Boot Slave's Supper * Femdom Isekai #2 I only had 1 tag on the second one and a shorter title. So, I thought may be that was the problem. I updated #1 to have a shorter title, reduced the number of tags to just have the "femdom" tag. Game still not showing up. Then I saw that I could raise a topic on the "Questions & Support" forum. Did that just yesterday. Did so. Then magically, they replied to my original support ticket within hours. First of all, what the fuck? You recommend the official support email even in this forum but you won't reply to support emails for months until I opened a forum topic? And then you won't even publicly reply. And as a back-end engineer myself, the fucking laziness of this excuse in the email has left me stunned. I was initially thinking of waiting for a response to the email but I'm just getting so angry as I write this. This is not how SQL queries or back-ends works especially when there's under 300 titles under the whole femdom tag and not even an exact search is returning my game. This is clearly a bug or someone messed up something from their admin side but they're just going to blame it on randomness instead of looking into it. Game dev is fucking hard, and I'm making a fully 3d game all by myself including making the engine, making 3d models for characters and the environment, animating them, game design, physics, deploying it, optimizing. And the actually finishing something and trying to market it and get some people to play something that's free. And they can't be bothered to just taking a deeper look into it? I can't be the only one this has happened to. It makes me sick seeing fully AI generated games showing up when trying to find my game when I know they didn't spend a 1/100 of the time making their game that I did. I probably won't be uploading any more of my games to Itch. If I include writing this post, and all the other work I've done its easily over 20+ hours of my effort. And the only traffic the itch page receives is from google or somewhere I paste a link, and that could be going to my game's official site. May be this is just a warning. Don't rely on any platform for visibility.
